This started life as a simple 50's/60's old fashioned rock and roll song. Using the same structure and melodies, it becomes more of a 70's rock song, hopefully retaining it's original character.
As an experiment, it works well. The guitar and some of the piano sections were created digitally.
The original inspiration was a song called The Ice Cream Man by Van Hallen.
Lyrics
The Age Of Rock and Roll
V1
We used to meet at the roller park
We’d stay there till well after dark
We’d laugh and skate and find a date
We used to meet at the roller park
There was Maybeline and Peggy Sue
with Barbra-Ann and Mary Lou
V2
The food was great and the music rocked
The drinks were cheap and the bar well stocked
When all was done it was all good fun
The food was great and the music rocked
There was Maybeline and Peggy Sue
with Barbra-Ann and Mary Lou
Bridge
It was the age of rock and roll
We lived our lives with no control
V3 Alt melody
The chicks were cute and us guys were cool
We’d all meet up and bunk off school
We were young with time to play the fool
The chicks were cute and us guys were cool
There was Maybeline and Peggy Sue
with Barbra-Ann and Mary Lou
V4
It was what we did when we were young
Aware our lives had just begun
We’re out there just to have some fun
It was what we did when we were young
There was Maybeline and Peggy Sue
with Barbra-Ann and Mary Lou
V5
We used to meet at the roller park
We’d stay there till well after dark
We’d eat and skate and find a date
We used to meet at the roller park
There was Maybeline and Peggy Sue
with Barbra-Ann and Mary Lou
There was Maybeline and Peggy Sue
with Barbra-Ann and Mary Lou
