Future Past

Future Past started life as an intro and nothing else. I thought it was a good start, but could not find a way to use it, despite regular attempts. I checked it again in 2024 and was surprised to find I had written a couple of verses of lyrics and some sort of melody. I could not remember what it was about. I had some ideas for the music, a sort of keyboard based prog rock song, that went well. I wrote some more lyrics that seemed to fit, and even now finished, I am not sure what it is about.

Th two main synth parts were mainly digitally created.

Future Past

I just can’t shake this feeling I’ve got

I’ve been this way before

My senses are reeling in shock

They just can’t take much more

The road I’m on will take me back again

to where it all began

I need to change and not to be the same

I don’t know if I can

I’ve got this chance to start again

To try to make things right

There’s so much more that I could be

Rewrite my life in better light

The way ahead is down to me

and down to me alone

I’ll take the path that’s right for me

and make my life my own

I’m older now and learned my lessons well

You just can’t change the past

Don’t waste your time, move on and do not dwell

Your time will go so fast

Stand still too long and life will pass you by

I knew it wouldn’t last

Too late to think too late to wonder why

My future’s now my past

I’m older now, about to breathe my last
